NCAA BETTING
Sick of going up day after day in a handicapping test-of-strength against the sportsbooks? Sick of constantly being on the receiving end of major losing streaks? Sick of constantly feeling overwhelmed by the edge provided for the bookie by the wig and the sheer amount of handicapping manpower it possesses?
Why don't you take the game to a neutral field where the only advantage the bookies has, is the juice? You'd like that wouldn't you? What if I told you it was entirely possible? Because it is.
The Second Half Betting Answer
By betting on the second half in NCAA games, one can easily achieve just that. This virtually throws all handicapping right out the window, and effectively neutralizes the handicapping edge the bookie may have on the bettor.
The lines are only valid starting from the end of the first half and through the break not leaving nearly enough time for the bookmaker to properly adjust his lines on all the matchups. The bettor's handicapping takes a serious blow as well, so it's kind of an eye for an eye setup, but it can still be beneficial. The bookie has some top-rate handicappers whilst the bettor can pretty much only rely on his/her own handicapping skills. Trading this in for the bookie's cappers is a good bargain in my book any day.
Another very important factor that can well and truly hand the edge over from the bookmaker to the bettor stems from the very nature of this type of betting. The bettor usually watches the game he/she plans to bet money on in the halftime, and that fact alone will probably hang in the balance heavier than the pre game handicapping would. The reason is, that there are a number of things that can completely turn the whole pre game handicapping upside down: key player injuries, technical fouls etc.
The Sportsbook View
The bookie on the other hand, has no such advantage. There's no way they can watch each and every single game and release their lines based on that. What he relies on, is a comparison of the score, the general handicapping, and the action he gets on the game. The whole situation is reminiscent of the NFL hidden value deals, when the crowd of squares betting one side of the matchups pushes the bookie one way so much that it actually creates value for the other side.
What's more, there can actually be certain situations in which the half time bet is almost a lock. In case one has bet on a side of the matchup, that more than covered the spread by halftime, betting again on it can milk the same cow twice.
NCAA betting, just like any other type of sports betting is reliant on the hidden value. It's about the only way the bettor can break ahead of the bookie, and half-time betting is such a breach in the bookie's defenses.
Other NCAA Betting Advantages
Other great sources of hidden value are home underdog games and low-public interest ones. The first one presents hidden value because bettors seem to overly like away favs, and force to bookie to leave himself uncovered on the side of the home underdog, which, as shown statistically, can more than often succeed ATS and sometimes even on the line. Unpopular matchups are again a good source of hidden value since they represent another opportunity for the bettor to catch the bookmaker at his worst.
Given the fact that the bookie can't possibly balance all of the action all of the time, ( not even the biggest online sports books can achieve this) one has only to seek out which matchups he's likely to neglect. Unpopular matchups attract little bettor action, hence the bookie won't have that much riding on such matchups hence he won't need to pay as much attention to it. I hope you're starting to see the pattern emerge here.
