We closed a super week with our sports picks highlighted by a 4 – 0 Saturday with two big plus money game including +160 on the Brew Crew run line. Today we have one of the best pitching match-ups you get to handicap over any season. Insane number being put by Jimenez who is 9 - 1 with an ERA of 0.88 and can reach the ten win mark here today with a win over the San Francisco Giants. How hard is it to get to 10 wins by June? Only five pitchers have been able to notch 10 wins before the end of May and the names are some you might have heard of before Smoltz, Clemens, Pedro Martinez, Schilling and Brandon Webb.
Jimenez is 5 – 1 on the road with n ERA of 0.62 and has no home runs in any road start this season. On April 17th he threw a no hitter against Atlanta. Over his last eight starts he has allowed 4 runs and allowed zero runs in 5 of those 8 starts. Over his last three starts he has gone 3 – 0 allowing just two runs in 23 innings. Getting that 10th win today might not be an issue normally, however, he will be facing back-to-back two-time Cy Young winner Tim Lincecum. Even with some current struggles Lincecum is 5 – 1 with an ERA of 3.00. Lincecum went 5 - 0 with an ERA 1.76 in his first eight starts but has allowed 11 earned runs over his last two starts. Over those two starts he has thrown just 9.2 innings allowing 11 runs on 11 hits. What’s probably more concerning is he allowed 5 walks in each of those starts.
Looking back we might find Jimenez worse outing came last year on 9/15/09 against these same Giants when he gave up 7 runs and was chased in just 2.2 innings. We note he was coming off 17 day layoff and prior to that game he held the Giants to two runs or less in three other starts. Lincecum faced the Rockies three times last year going 22 full innings allowing just 4 total runs over the three starts. He had an impressive 26 strikeouts in the three meetings. Should be a great day at the ball park in San Francisco.
