It’s been nearly 5 years since the Rays have won in Cleveland; we have to go all the way back to 9/28/2005 to find a “W” for Tampa Bay. The Rays have now loss an unexplainable 18 straight games in Cleveland. Let’s also note that the Rays have the best road record in baseball at 31 – 17 so we’re not sure that streak will continue.

There might not be a much better opportunity as Cleveland sends Mitch Talbot to the mound. Talbot will be facing Tampa Bay for the first time and that will give him a slight advantage the first few passes through the Rays line-up. The bright spot here for the Rays is the Indians have not supported Talbot going 2 - 4 in last 6 starts. Overall Talbot is 8 – 8 with an ERA of 3.89 but just 4 – 5 with an ERA of 5.47 at home.

Tampa Bay sends Price to the mound who got roughed up in his last start but dominated the Indians batters when facing them back on May 18th allowing just 1 run on 4 hits. Overall Price is 12 – 5 with a 2.48 ERA. Price has struck out 103 batters in his 120 total innings this season. Tampa Bay won 5 of the first 6 games (in Tampa) this season so there no reason to believe they can’t deliver a win today and break the 18 games losing streak.

Trend type sports handicappers will love the continuing play on Cleveland and while there were surly spots to play Cleveland at home against Tampa Bay, this is one day that a new trend might just catch on, Tampa Bay winning in Cleveland. While the price is too high for us and we will watch from the sidelines we caution the trend only players today.
