Our sports picks in the NBA continued with another winner last night as we nailed the Under in the Lakers/Suns game and pushed our current NBA run to 5 – 0 over the L5 selections. The A's remain above .500 and in the AL West race which may be somewhat of a surprise. The A’s issues seem to be scoring runs and winning games on the road where they are just 7 – 14. It must have seemed like the A’s current road trip, a 10 day trip, was going to be just another one of those difficult spots when something weird happened. The A‘s exploded for six runs on Wednesday and seven on Thursday and won 2 straight road games. Prior to the two game run explosions the A’s had scored a total of just six runs in six road games losing all six games. Now they head to Detroit to take on the Tigers in what will be full summer weather for the weekend series. Oakland sends Ben Sheets (2-3, 5.04 ERA) to the mound who is starting to look like an ACE again as he is 1 – 0 with an ERA of 2.52 over his last four starts. Sheets is returning from elbow surgery that keep him out all of the 09’ season. This will be Sheets first start against Detroit since 07’ when he went 5.2 innings allowing 3 runs on 8 hits. Detroit returns home off a 7 game West Coast road trip where they managed just a 3 – 4 record on the left coast swing. They opened the trip winning 2 of 3 from these same Oakland A’s they face tonight. Dontrelle Willis rewarded the Tigers, who have been more then patient with Willis as they have been working the last few season in getting Willis back to the major league level by allowing 4 runs or less in every start. It does appear he has struggles more of late as he has not been able to make it into the 6th inning in his last three starts. Returning home is good news for the Tigers as they are 19 and 9 at home and have won 10 of their last 13 home games.
