MLB Sports Handicappers Preview San Diego (50-36) at Colorado (48-38)

Our winning sports picks continue as we have already started our football season as we open the CFL 2 – 0. The Colorado Rockies continue their hot play after a slow start to the season and with the All-Star break just 2 days away the Rockies find themselves ten games over .500 and just two games back of first place San Diego. They just happen to be playing the Padres and at home where they are wrapping up a 10 game home stand and have gone 7 – 1 to this point, 2 more victories will put them into a tie for 1st place in the NL West.

The Rockies and Pods have played 10 games this season and the Rockies are a solid 7 – 3 in those 10 meetings. The Rockies have won 8 of their last 10 games and have won 5 in row. Long term home field has been good to the Rockies who are 72 – 33 in their last 105 games played at home. They have been involved in 3 late inning rallies to capture wins including a 9 run bottom of the 9th inning rally against the St. Louis Cards and yesterday a 5 run 7th innings rally as they took a 10 – 8 lead and the game.

Jason Hammel will go for the Rockies who is 6 – 3 overall with n ERA of 4.18 and home record of 5 – 1 with an ER of 3.21. In May Hammel went on a pretty good tear allowing just 3 total runs in 5 starts and that included 3 shutouts. Over his last 3 starts he has allowed runs of 2, 3 and 4 and has faced San Diego twice already this season. In those two meeting the Rockies split and Hammel allowed 3 and 4 runs. Wade LeBlanc counters for the Padres who is just 4 – 6 but owns a 3.10 ERA. He has been much better at home and brings 4.85 ERA with him to Colorado. LeBlanc has been on a pretty good run allowing just one run in 3 of his last 5 starts. He has also faced the Rockies twice already this year and allowed just 2 and 3 runs in those two meetings, both starts were home starts. The Rockies are on a roll and have huge momentum on their side so at this point it probably does not matter who the pitching math-ups are, the Rockies are rolling.
