The best sports handicappers preview this AFC East matchup at Gillette Stadium. This is the story of two teams looking to make it over the .500 mark. After a disappointing start, the Patriots are looking to improve to 4-3 and move into sole position of first place in the division.

Current Vegas Odds have the Patriots as 10.5 point favorites. Public and experts are both currently taking the Pats against the spread. The total currently sits at 47, and again, both sides favor the total to go over, the over is being heavily played by both sides.

New England has won the last two meetings, the most recent was 11/13/11, a game in which the Patriots won by 3 touchdowns. Both teams are 4-2 overall ATS and both are 1-1 in their current scenario (Jets on the road, and Pats at home). If history repeats itself, the Patriots will continue to be very good ATS in week 7 (6-0-1)

Tom Brady has completed 160 out of 243 attempts and boasts a completion percentage of 65.8, thrown three interceptions and has also thrown for 10 touchdowns. His overall rating is 97.2. Every year it seems that Brady is the definition of consistency.

The same cannot be said for the Jets QB position. Mark Sanchez is certainly on the hot seat, completing just 88 of 177 attempts for a percentage of 49.7. Although he has thrown for over 1100 yards, Sanchez has thrown 8 touchdown and been picked off 6 times. His overall rating is 70.9. It seems that Sanchez finds himself in a similar situation as did Kyle Orton last year. If Sanchez cannot channel some inner magic, fans will soon be calling for Tim Tebow, who, in limited snaps, has a rating of 102.1

The Patriots are not exactly known for their shut down defense, however, that may not be necessary for Sunday’s match up, as the Jets are not necessarily putting points up in bunches. Look for this to be an old fashioned shoot out, and if the Jets fail to perform on the offensive end, it could be a long day for New York.
